UT Dallas Degree: BA – Interdisciplinary Studies

Work Background

I serve as President of Unity Hunt, Inc. Unity Hunt is the vehicle through which the Lamar Hunt family oversees its holdings. In my role with the organization, I develop and implement its strategic directives and supervise the members of the management team who are responsible for its investment, operating, legal, finance, accounting and tax functions. I also serve as a trustee, board member and officer of certain Lamar Hunt family trusts and related companies.

Prior to joining Unity Hunt, I was President of VFT Capital, LP, which provided seed capital, marketing assistance and operational support to hedge fund managers. Before VFT, I was President of Novo Networks, Inc. (now known as UniTek Global Services, Inc.), a publicly traded telecommunications company. At Novo, I was responsible for the strategic direction of the company and the management of its executive team and operating subsidiaries. Prior to my role at Novo, I held legal and management positions with GTE Corporation (now known as Verizon Communications, Inc.), Chancellor Media Corporation (now known as Clear Channel Communications, Inc.) and Marcus Cable, LP (now known as Charter Communications, Inc.). Before Marcus, I practiced law with the firm of Patton, Haltom, Roberts, McWilliams & Greer, LLP.

Benefits of on IS Degree

Because I planned to go on to law school, I chose the School of Interdisciplinary Studies to tailor my degree program to include the disciplines I believed would be most beneficial to a successful legal career. This interdisciplinary approach provided me with the background I needed to succeed in law school and beyond.

In addition to the advantages of my undergraduate degree program, I have benefitted immeasurably from the advances UT Dallas has made in the last 25 years. The university has raised its profile significantly, which inures to the benefit of its alumni.

Interests

Serving on the board of the National Archives Foundation has been fascinating. It affords me the opportunity to further my interest in history by supporting the US Archivist’s initiatives and promoting greater public awareness of the extraordinary documents in the National Archives. I also travel extensively with my wife, Tracey, as we endeavor to gain a better understanding of other cultures.
