The IS Files: Episode 11 Season Finale: The One Where It’s Summer!

This post is part of a series. View the last post for context.

You truly have no idea how much how I enjoyed this semester. My only regret is not starting my graduate work in this program. Learn from my mistake! Start with the MAIS! Design your own dadgum degree! (Hashtag!)

The theme of this semester, and really my main take away, is how much I had to learn about what “interdisciplinary” really means. It’s a poorly understood term even in the academic world. I didn’t realize how profoundly I am just naturally drawn to interdisciplinary studies, and it feels absolutely wonderful to be working on a degree that finally reflects who I am and what I want to learn. I know this sounds like ad copy, but it’s true! And as I’ve hinted at before, it makes me want to keep going. The research I’ve started — I want to see it through to the finish. I have so many questions that haven’t been answered yet, and I want to answer them.

Coming up this summer is my Capstone semester. I’ll spend the summer reading (oh no how dreadful please make it stop) and by the time Fall rolls around, I’ll be ready to do the research and put together a final project.

Thank you for joining me for Season 1 of The IS Files. Stay tuned for Season 2, coming in June! I’ll be back every other week to update y’all on my shenanigans.

In this video, I talk about turning in my final projects, looking forward with great anticipation to sitting in a pink flamingo float with a margarita in one hand and a trashy summer novel in the other, and my plans for the rest of the year and beyond (PhD maybe?!).

Please promise me you will have the best, most sunshiney, sno-coney, swimming-poolish summer ever!
